Frequently Asked Questions

Coaching is a tool I use to help my clients dig deep to uncover what they really want, to ask deep questions that help them gain insight into their own thinking and behavior and to take action to create a life they want.  It’s a relationship-a partnership between me and the client.

I hired a coach and still have a coach today.  Like me, most people who hire a coach do so when they want to make changes in their lives but often don’t know how to take the steps to get from ‘A’ to ‘B’.  Sometimes others hire a coach so they can maximize their impact in life and enrich an already satisfying life.

Coaching is not therapy.  Therapists have very different clinical qualifications and help individuals deal with the past.  As a coach I help people deal with the future.  If I am working with a client and they have an issue more appropriately addressed by a therapist, I will refer them.

There are many different paths to becoming a coach.  I chose to attend Health Coach Institute HCI to obtain a Health Coach Certification which included a year of study and practice.  I also completed a Master’s Level program at HCI in which I am certified as a TCM Transformational Coach and as a Master. There are many organizations that train and certify coaches.  In addition to the certifications I’ve obtained I use my life experience as a leader, salesperson and sales leader and athlete.

Please see the first question above describing the role of coaching.  A consultant is hired to assist with a particular problem or project and is more directive in nature than a coach.
